We offer a progressive model for corrections in America that supports rehabilitation, dignity, and the difficult work of reentry. This is why we use trauma-informed design, natural light, and sound mitigation to promote safety and mental wellness 鈥� of staff and residents alike.
This design shift is a part of broader criminal justice reform efforts across the country, including spaces for education, therapy, and restorative justice programming, giving people the chance to heal and begin again. Community connection, equity and sustainability are no longer optional features 鈥� they are essential to doing this work right.
A truly progressive justice facility doesn鈥檛 just manage risk; it models accountability without dehumanization. It says that how we treat people 鈥� especially when they鈥檙e at their lowest 鈥� matters. And as cities, counties, and states plan for the next generation of correctional infrastructure, this approach isn鈥檛 just possible 鈥� it鈥檚 what justice should look like.
