
Middle and High School Campus Design for DeKalb County School District
(Atlanta, May 27, 2025) 鈥� With implementation of the 2021 comprehensive master plan underway, DeKalb County School District officials broke ground on its new middle school and high school. 半岛体育 and Goodwyn Mills Cawood are leading design on the new facilities at Sequoyah. The new middle and high school at Sequoyah will be built on the site of the former Cary Reynolds Elementary and Sequoyah Middle School, which will remain in operation during construction. The new dual campus facility is a designated prioritization project in the capital improvement program, an initiative to alleviate overcrowding and remedy underutilization of existing building inventory district wide.

Approximately 94,000 students attend DCSD, ranking it as the third largest school system in the state. The new middle and high school at Sequoyah will serve students in the northern edge of the district, a region projected to continue experiencing overcrowding challenges at the secondary level. The design includes a variety of spaces to support academic instruction, fine arts education, hands-on learning, career and technical lab work, small and large group collaboration, and athletic activities.
The middle school is designed for 1,200 students and the high school is designed to accommodate 1,600 students. Construction has begun, with the middle school projected opening in 2027, followed by the high school in 2029. The estimated cost for both projects is $228 million.
